Skincare, the ultimate struggle of womankind. We all need to pay so much attention to our skin in order for it to stay safe. With all the pollution and chemicals that get into our skin on a daily basis, a proper skincare routine is very necessary. So, take out every Sunday to be your No-Makeup Day, and follow the steps below. This is your best at-home skincare routine in 3 easy steps.
The first step to any good skincare routine is exfoliation, you need to get all the bad things out of your skin. So since this is an at-home skincare routine, we will obviously be using materials you can find at home.
Ingredients for exfoliation scrub:
1 Tbsp Honey
1 Tbsp Sea Salt or Sugar
A drop of essential oil (Preferably rosewood oil)
Just mix these ingredients together so they are a thick paste. Make sure your face is clean and you have removed all your makeup before you start exfoliating. Now, just splash some water on your face, this makes it easier to use the scrub. Take a small amount of scrub in your hand and rub it a section of your face in circular motion. Repeat this step until you have done it to all your face. Remember to do this slowly otherwise you might get a sugar rash! It’s actually funny because I have gotten scratches by scrubbing and it hurts, so legit be careful. Finally, wash off your face and pat dry it.
TheQueen Tip: Clean your face with rose water before the exfoliation process.
Now is the fun part, so grab something to drink and put on your favorite show to let it load. So, you can definitely choose whichever DIY mask that suits your skin best but we will still tell you our favorite. This mask works on all skin types and is super quick and easy to make.
Ingredients for the ultimate mask for an at-home skincare routine:
1 Tbsp Honey
2 Tbsps Yoghurt
1/2 Tbsp Oats Powder or Oats
A drop of essential oil of your choice (Optional)
Just mix these ingredients together so they form a nice little paste. Make sure your face is pat dried. Now, apply this paste all over your face, make sure the paste isn’t drippy- it should stick to your face. Leave it on for 30 minutes (time to watch that show or read that magazine) and then take it off with a cotton. Don’t be rigorous, it’s okay if there’s mask left on your face because you need to wash it. Pat dry your face and wash it with your daily face-wash.
The benefits of honey, yogurt and oats are endless from making your skin moisturized to even a few anti-aging benefits, this mask is awesome because it works for all ages as well. I personally love DIY masks because that way I know exactly what I am putting on my face.
TheQueen Tip: To make the whole process more fun, drink some detox water while you wait for the mask to dry. It’s amazing to drink some detox water because that way you are cleansing your body inside and out.
3. Moisturization Aka The Secret That Makes This The Best At-Home Skincare Routine
You are at the final step, and you probably can already see the glow on your face. But, this part is extremely important! You are now going to dab some rose water on cotton and clean your face with it. This is definitely option but rose water is super great for you and easily found in stores (Probably Indian or Arab stores), and you can also DIY it quite quickly.
Ingredients for the moisturizer:
Yes, we are not moisturizing with our typical cream or lotion, we are going to moisturize with coconut oil. This part of the process is what will leave your skin glowing throughout the week. Coconut oil is anti-bactorial and actually protects your skin from all the external dirt. A dirty little TheQueen secret? I always apply coconut oil on zits and pimples if I have any, and within 2-3 days it’s like it was never there!
TheQueen Tip: Wear coconut oil on your face before makeup every single day and watch your skin become ever more beautiful. Don’t put too much though, just a drop or two.
