Sometimes life throws some big stones at us and it gets really hard to dodge it all the time, and even harder to think in a positive way. We have times when we are down, when things just are not going right and when nothing in our life connects to us.
In moments like these, when there are downs in life, when we are striving to achieve a goal but have a hard time doing it positive thinking helps boost our energy. However, positive thinking is also the hardest during that time period.
Just for those reasons, for my strong women out there- here are a few guidelines to positive thinking when you feel completely lost.
1. Remember the times you rose
There is no better teacher than the past right? We have all heard this at some point. The weird thing about us humans is the fact that we constantly remind ourselves of the “bad” past, we recall too much of the negatives that took place in life. What I want you to do is use your memory to bring you positive energy. Remind yourself of all the times when you thought you would not survive but you did, remind yourself of the amazing ways in which you have grown and all the memories you carry within that help you grow even stronger. Always remember the times you went a step up on the ladder, that way you will be able to remind yourself that if you could do it then, you can do it now too.
2. Be an optimist
If you have read “The Power of Positive Thinking” or “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind” you would know why this particular point is extra necessary. If you haven’t read any of those books, I suggest you order one of them right now. Remember, being an optimist doesn’t mean being delusional- I am not telling you to dream of achieving everything in one day, however, you can start small. If you start seeing the glass half full in simple life situations your days are ought to get better. All the greatest leaders are, were and will always be optimists, they have the tendency to look for the best in every situation which helps them strive forward.
3. Engage in positive communication
Communication is necessary especially when having a down time. However, due to social media and the constant noise we are surrounded with, this communication tends to become negative. It is important for you to seek the counsel of people who will bring out the best in you and remind you that you can do it. Find people who tell you that you can believe in yourself because they believe in you. All of us have “toxic” people in our lives, keep them away, they will take away your energy and make you doubt all you do. Get in touch with people who really care about you and have always pushed you to do better. Try getting rid of social media for a few days, be more open to the world around you, a lot of opportunities slip by because you are not paying attention.
4. Engage in positive community
Do things that make you happy and try making the people that surround you happy. It’s human nature to feel better if you make another person smile. Give your services to the society you live in, and help improve that society. Volunteer. Go out and teach dance or singing or anything you enjoy doing, if you are a pet lover go and support animal welfare NGOs. Link your interests, hobbies, and life to the society that is around you. When you make a small change, it pushes you towards making greater changes.
5. Keep a gratitude journal
Or any journal for that matter. Keeping a journal helps you reflect what you are doing, it makes you lay down on paper what you are feeling and why. Writing out all the thoughts that bombard your brain can result in realizing that the problems you are facing are possible to solve after all. Other than that, remember to keep some form of a journal where you can write 3 things you are grateful for every day. Gratitude is parallel to enhancing positivity, it is a reminder that things are better and have always been better. Be grateful for the little things because only then will you be grateful for the upcoming successes in your life.
6. Follow your dreams
Finally, remember that nothing is worse than regrets. Follow your dreams, go for it no matter how crazy your dream seems. Make your dreams into long term and short term achievable goals. Never give up and keep moving forward with the dreams you have. When you work hard and pay attention to what you really want life starts to take a new shape. Just because it seems too far does not mean you shouldn’t at least try. So go on! Dream it, Do it and Live it.
I hope these steps help boost your energy levels and motivate you to do better every day. You can achieve all you want loves, just keeping working hard and smart for it.
