Mexico City is famous for many different things, however, a lot of times travelers don’t know what to truly do when they visit the city. Of course, there are so many things one can do in Mexico City. Eating Tacos is usually the most common one of them all. Truth be told, the Tacos in Mexico are pretty great but honey, you are missing out on a lot if you think that’s all you can do. Coming from someone who lived in Mexico City, it is full of surprises. There is so much you can do in Mexico City, and I am about to tell you all the secrets. No need to go to just tourist destinations anymore.
Here are the top 5 things to do in Mexico City:
1. Eat More Than Just Tacos
Tacos are definitely delicious, I can’t disagree. But many people go to Mexico without knowing about all the other delicious flavors the city has to offer. For example, don’t miss out of Elotes, a.k.a. the corn. That is honestly one of the most delicious things I have EVER had. If you are a sweet tooth, definitely eat some Mazapan. Also, try out some tamales, enchiladas, and quesadillas with frijoles. It doesn’t quite end here, even some of the takeaway food is delicious, like the Maruchan. Mexico City is full of food, so eat it all.
2. Visit The Zoo
There’s a lovely zoo in the middle of Mexico City known as Chapultepec Zoo. I know you must be wondering “why a zoo” to be honest, I don’t know why. I just remember it was one of the most beautiful natural destinations. It is also very respectful to the animals and puts them in their livelihood. Also, there were quite a few activities one could do in the zoo that made it even more interesting. There is so much to do in Mexico City, even around the park. There are quite a few beautiful statues you can see around too.
3. Have A Night Out In Masaryk
Polanco is one of the poshest places in Mexico City, and for good reason. It has a beautiful scenery and a lot of locations to take nice pictures. It also has some of the most high-class bars and restaurants. Masaryk is a beautiful lane full of restaurants and clubs in Polanco. It is known as the zones safest clubbing spot as well. Obviously, take your precautions and try to go out with a group of people. But, if you want to have fun, Masaryk is where you should be.
4. Check Out Zocalo During An Event
There is always something happening in the Zocalo section of Mexico City. And there is always something to do in Mexico City when you visit Zocalo. If you are lucky and go during the festival season, you will come across beautiful decorations and cosplays. Zocalo tends to celebrate Halloween, Navidad (Christmas), and Valentine’s Day incredibly. Also, sometimes there are shows and concerts in Zocalo. It is usually a pretty chill place to visit as well even without the festivities.
5. Go To Palacio De Bellas Artes
This is one of the more touristic locations in this list of things to do in Mexico City. The Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City is so artistic and majestic. It has great Art, as one can imagine from the name and the architecture is everything. Honestly, it is one of the must-visit spots in Mexico City. You will be so stunned by all the architectural and artistic beauty the Palacio has to offer.
6. Buy From The Locals
The locals in Mexico are overly talented. When you walk around the streets you will notice them selling all sorts of things. From local jewelry to painting, to more patriotic and Mexico-Centric things. You will find some of the cheapest and most amazing souvenirs with these locals, and you would be helping them out. I remember the man across my street in Mexico who would sell rings for around 10 pesos. I can give you a guarantee that it is still shiny and still looks fabulous with my outfits. Also, you will get the blessings of the locals. Just make sure you know where you take your wallet out. The central Polanco is much safer than other spots.
7. Have A Day Out In The Malls
If you want to shop, and girls, I am sure you do, Mexico City is full of malls. The best part about the malls is their architecture. They are definitely not like the malls you might usually visit. From Antara to Palacio de Hierro, to Pabellon Polanco and even Galerias. All the malls have stunning exteriors and interiors. Also, most brands are cheaper in Mexico, so don’t miss out on some good sales. If you are on a family visit, I recommend Pabellon Polanco. It has more affordable brands, the food court has many options, and there are things to do in the mall that is enjoyable to all ages.
That’s all, for now, girls, but I can bet your trip to Mexico City will be one you never forget. Have fun! Also, if you want to stay healthy while you are out and about, this post will be a lifesaver.
