11 years already? Seems like it was just yesterday when Gossip Girl first premiered. The show is still relevant and if you are anything like us you have probably rewatched it a countless number of times. Gossip Girl till date has been the most classic teen drama series and high school drama series. It is no doubt that everything about this show is amazing; be it the clothing, the cast, the drama, the relationships, or even the family values. Gossip Girl changed the meaning of teen dramas and set the bar up really high. The creators are definitely super talented. But, in all the amazing 6 seasons, with each episode having its own twisted deliciousness, how can we choose? So, yes, maybe we lied. It’s not 2, but in essence, it is 2. 2 types of episodes that we love and are the best Gossip Girl episodes ever.
Best Gossip Girl Episodes
1. The Cotillion Episodes
If there is an episode that never fails to impress us, it is definitely cotillion or the “debutante” episodes. Something fascinating always happens in these episodes. Be it the iconic Dan and Serena kiss in the first season, or Jenny Humphrey walking down with Nate Archibald. Or, possibly the best cotillion episode, the one where Sage broadcasted Serena and Dan’s sex tape… Just kidding, we didn’t like Sage either. The only good thing about that episode was seeing Nate Archibald, when is it ever not good to look at Nate Archibald?
And remember the “Debutante” party for cousin Charlie, or… wait wasn’t it fake cousin Charlie? That was the episode that we all thought we would lose Chuck Bass, even Blair Waldorf thought that. That was definitely an important episode since after that episode even Gossip Girl shut down for a little while.
One thing is definite. Any episode where there was an event happening in Gossip Girl was totally iconic. Yes, we know that almost every episode has an event taking place. That’s kind of our point.
Here is a fun fact you might not have known though, these best Gossip Girl episodes are taken from a real event. Yes, you heard us right. Cotillion is an actual thing, but it is definitely better known as the Debutante Ball. It happens in both Paris and New York and is exclusive to elite families. With reason, girls there wear custom-made Diors and they are usually straight out of school or high school students. You can be jealous, we know we are.
2. The Thanksgiving Episodes
Thanksgiving with the Van Der Woodsen’s? How can we not love it? Or the Waldorfs or the Humphreys. Anyway, the point is the Thanksgiving Episodes of Gossip Girl are classics. Even the flashback that was shown in the first season of a previous Thanksgiving was important. But let’s not forget our favorite character who has made her entrance a couple of times on Thanksgiving, Georgina Sparks. Honestly, how can someone not love Georgina? She is hilarious.
Thanksgiving episodes are the best part of Gossip Girl because they blend it in with their Elite lifestyle and respect for tradition. The Thanksgiving episodes always showcase how much love families in the Upper East Side share. Also, the idea that no one should be alone on Thanksgiving is constantly reiterated on the show and it is absolutely beautiful.
But, if we have to be honest, the first Thanksgiving episode was definitely one of the best Gossip Girl episodes ever. I mean, it’s iconic. Dan, Serena, Eric, and Jenny finding out that Rufus and Lily dated, seeing Blair Waldorf in Brooklyn, and obviously the epic drama between Rufus, Lily, and Alison.
Oh, and how can we forget about the Thanksgiving episode with jealous Nate where Serena choose Trip? WHY THOUGH? Serena made a lot of mistakes and we can all agree this one was a big one.
But, if we are being honest, the best part of that episode was definitely the Van Der Woodsen’s going to a restaurant and eating french fries. Because the truth is, family withstands all… Unless you are Bart Bass.
I am sure there are many more episodes that come to mind when we think of the best Gossip Girl episodes. Like any episode that had the badass NJBC (Non-Judging Breakfast Club) together doing a takedown or the wedding episodes. The list of the best Gossip Girl episodes in endless. But, if you do have a favorite episode comment down below! We want to know.
For now, go and binge Season 3 especially if you are a Serenate shipper like us.
