The Best Of The New York And London Fashion Week
February and March were the months where the first part of the big fashion events took place. Fashion week is an amazing event where the four main fashion capitals which are New York, Paris, London, and Milan present their Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer collections. These, of course, are the four capitals which have set the fashion trends the world continues to embrace.
Today, we will be talking about the New York and London Fashion Weeks.
NEW YORK Fashion Week
You would have probably thought that Paris or Milan were the first cities to have the Fashion Week, but it was actually started in New York. During the Second World War, there was a constant want of finding something that could make people forget, at least for a little while, about the hideous events taking place. New York is best known for eclectic fashion styles. You can see people in New York who love street style and comfort, and of course, it really reflects on its designer’s proposals.
During the Fashion week, Bottega Veneta was undoubtedly the one that took all the attention. The creative director of Bottega Veneta, Tomas Maier, knew how to portray the New York silhouettes. During his runway, you can see beautiful silk dresses with geometrical figures which seemed like a metaphor for the New York skyscrapers. As for the embroidered coats, they were a display of what Bottega Veneta does best, craftsmanship. The colors are so Fall like mustard yellows, brick reds and oranges and a variety of purples and lilacs. Tomas really portrayed the New York women as if they could pick any outfit, go to work and probably have lunch in a very typical busy day, but also, afterward, go and take a martini in the night.
LONDON Fashion Week
London is well known for being the city of Trendsetters. And why is that? Think about it… Most of the celebrities and icons of all the times have been born and launched from London. London has so many styles, it’s a city full of quirkiness and trend. A common characteristic of London style is that its people are experts in making sportswear look fashionable. Somehow, they seem to find the perfect balance between luxury clothing and sportswear. Also, London is the cot for the young and new designers.
One designer who knew perfectly how to show London’s peculiar style was Burberry. With the one and only Christopher Bailey, the designer who revolutionalized the brand 17 years ago by targeting youth market, Burberry saw the future in the fashion industry. With this collection, he said goodbye to the brand, and gosh! What a masterpiece! He named the collection Time because is the past, present and future of Burberry. You can see elements of the 80’s and 90’s full of the bright, colorful and urban styles, as well as, the classic products of the brand like scarves and trench patterns. The collection was also full of LGBTQ+ elements such as rainbow scarves, hats, bags, and skirts. Surely, a nostalgic collection where Bailey leaves his legacy.
That was all for now, but I am definitely going to bring to you some of the most exciting factors of fashion.
